Explosive Creativity

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

The Print Club was recently commissioned by the Sculpture Club to create a poster for their upcoming show in Bates  Gallery. I volunteered to design the it, and with Justin George’s collaboration we banged out this rocking poster that I am so pumped about. It ended up being 14 printed layers on 4 layers of paper in an edition of 14. I really have to thank Justin because without him this would never have gotten made and it most certainly would not look as awesome.

I have yet to attempt to make a photolithographic print, but I do have a couple in the works. This is the key layer for one of them.

birdbodyline

For one night of Halloween weekend I dressed up as this very bird boy. My friend Devon went as the sky so I flew around in her for a little while.

Another photolithograph that I am working on completing is this No Care Space Bear. This is my initial sketch.

I will try to finish these prints and interweb-ize them very soon.

In one night…

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Last thursday the Print Club sponsored a one night print exchange. About 16 printmakers got together to make prints to give to each other. We chose 3 words from a large list to form the title of our prints and then had the night to complete them. This is my awkwardly sexual, finished print. I think of this as a self-portrait with some of the physical attributes altered to represent some of my less-than-perfect character traits. This print, along with the finger and nipple from the previous post, is the start of a new body of work I am presently calling 69 Love Stories.

This week is Edinboro University’s annual Art Auction hosted by the Student Art Leaque at Bate’s Gallery in Loveland Hall on campus. This print, along with several others in a suite titled “Pleasure Prints”, will be sold at the auction to benefit the school’s annual publication, Chimera.

In other print related news, I made an invitation for David’s 24th birthday celebration on October 16th. The evening was filled with fun and excitement, and was full of dancing. Here are the front and back of the screen-printed card.
